THE KIDS ARE BACK

For those of you who think you've never heard of The Get Up Kids, you have. We promise. It's hard to turn on the radio or TV these days and not see bands like Midtown, Hellogoodbye, and Fall Out Boy rocking the airwaves. Aside from all owning the spotlight, these bands cite The Get Up Kids as a huge influence in their music. In fact, the Kansas City band has been a driving force in the current emo scene for over decade.

Well, we don't know about you, but we've been waiting for the guys' come back for what seems like decades and the time has arrived. The legendary band is back together for the first time in over 4 years. In January 2009, Doghouse Records re-released the classic emo album, Something to Write Home About, on purple and black vinyl. Now The Get Up Kids are set to release a deluxe 10th Anniversary CD/DVD version of the album on September 8, 2009. As if that's not enough awesome for one year, the band is taking to Europe and North America for a their first comprehensive tour in years.

And because we're just so stoked to have the guys back in Chicago, you can catch The Get Up Kids with Kevin Devine and The Life & Times, at Metro October 21st and 22nd. Tickets for both shows are on sale now.
