AA BONDY

Singer/songwriter AA Bondy has just been added as an opener for Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band on July 14th right here at Metro. But who is the man behind the initials? Auguste Arthur Bondy is a bluesy folksy guitar slinger often compared to the likes of Ryan Adams and Bob Dylan. His 2007 release American Hearts won over folk fans and the critics with its dark melodies and darker lyrics (see track "I Killed Myself When I Was Young"). Bondy just played the giant fests Sasquatch and Bonnaroo and is now touring the country, undoubtedly picking up hundreds of new fans. NPR's website has a recording of his 2008 South-By-Southwest set, which is definitely worth a listen.
