SPOTTED: PRETTY RECKLESS

Spotted at NYC's The Annex: Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen playing a brand new role as lead singer of her band, Pretty Reckless. Looks like Momsen has something in common with her GG character Little J: Unrelenting ambition. So how was the show? There will certainly be doubters, as we've seen the whole actor to musician transition before that often leaves our ears wishing for the Van Gogh treatment. Well you might not want to be so quick to judge. Spin magazine's Lawrence Lewitinn wandered down to The Annex in NYC's Lower East side to form his opinion firsthand. So does he think it's going to be a reverse case of "video killed the radio star?" Apparently not, as Momsen seems to have passed his test. Lewitinn writes,

"Momsen delivered a set more befitting a rock star who dabbles in acting, not the other way around. Looking like Debbie Harry and singing like Kim Carnes doing Karen O., Momsen showcased the potential to build a following among those who'd feel more comfortable listening to L7 or Sleater-Kinney than relating to any character on Gossip Girl."

All that, and the girl is only 15 years old. Not bad. Check out the rest of Lewitinn's article here. If you'd rather form your own opinion, check out Pretty Reckless for yourself when they open for The Veronicas at Metro on Saturday, July 11th.
