15 YEARS IN THE MAKING

Patterson Hood, front man of Athens Georgia's Drive By Truckers, has a lot going on at the moment. After releasing the critically acclaimed Brighter Than Creation's Dark in 2008, The DBTs backed up keyboard legend Booker T on his recently released album Potato Hole. On June 23rd, Hood will release Murdering Oscar (and Other Love Songs), an album he originally wrote and recorded in his roommate's bedroom on a boom box cassette player in 1994. In 2004 Hood rediscovered his old recordings and decided to try to recreate the album with a new band and a full studio. After five years of occasional rerecording and tweaking the 15 year old project, Hood is very pleased that Murdering Oscar finally gets to see the light of day. Patterson and his band, the Screwtopians, will be coming to Metro on June 20th. Until then, check out some free mp3's from the album on his website.
