MAKE GOOD USE OUT OF THESE DRUNKEN FEET
I'm hesitant to call Lucero country music. I wouldn't call it Southern Rock either. It's worth noting though, because the band makes sweet gritty tunes that could only come from below the Mason-Dixon. Full Disclosure. I moved to Chicago from Knoxville, TN, and I have seen this band play everything from bars, tiny hip venues, one particular tire shop on the North Side of Knoxville, and here @ Metro. We all say we don't like country. For me, that's what happens when you're surrounded by flag-wavers, gun racks, and polished "studio country". We all love Hank Williams and Johnny Cash though. Well, I'm not going to say that Lucero sounds anything like Hank or Cash, but I will say that they write and play from the same place as those two legends. It's not just because they write songs about lost love, drinking, and mortality, but because when they sing about it, you know they mean it. Never seen a live show with so much passion, sweat and teeth. Gives me chills just thinking about it. See for yourself. Lucero stops in this Friday (Good Friday).
Here's another.
