ONCE UPON A DARK AND DIRTY TIME

While music is our forte, every now and then we like to branch out. Our friends at Columbia College are showcasing events all around town this Monday through Friday in the name of Story Week. Tomorrow/Thursday, we host Literary Rock & Roll. The night will showcase readings by Richard Price (Clockers, Samaritan, Lush Life), Lydia Millet (How the Dead Dream, Oh Pure and Radiant Heart, Everyone's Pretty) , and Nami Mun (Miles from Nowhere). The pairing with Metro is quite fitting seeing as how these authors aren't exactly penning bedtime stories. Rather, all three writers are known for their wrenching novels showcasing raw, often deprived characters. Teenage runaways, alcoholic pornographers, and obsessive stalkers all try to get a their little piece of the pie. Sounds a little too familiar.

Since authors don't write pop songs, I'll let you read what the experts have to say about these talented folks. The event is free, but seating is limited so get here when doors open @ 6pm. Readings begin @ 6:15.
