Join us for our Metro 25th Anniversary Year Kickoff Event! Two very different popular Chicago music institutions will partner this summer to present one unforgettable evening as the Grant Park Music Festival and the Metro present a rare orchestral collaboration with indie rock darlings, The Decemberists, with the Grant Park Orchestra at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, Wednesday, July 18 (TONIGHT!), at 6:30 p.m. This concert, which is FREE and open to the public, as are all Grant Park Music Festival performances, will celebrate Metro's 25th Anniversary.

Led by songwriter and frontman Colin Meloy, The Decemberists have climbed the ranks of the independent music world with a series of bold and beautiful albums. The Portland band is known for its group dynamic that embraces experimentation even as it celebrates classic pop and folk forms with a little klezmer, Irish jig, sea chantey and progressive rock thrown in. The Grant Park Music Festival performance will feature brand-new orchestral arrangements of The Decemberists' songs, arranged and conducted by Sean O'Loughlin, a fresh voice and a rising name in the music industry. Under the baton of McLoughlin, The Decemberists will be joined on the Pritzker Pavilion stage by the Grammy-nominated, 82-member Grant Park Orchestra.

Again, this event is FREE and open to all ages. It’s our way of saying “thanks” to all Chicagoland music fans who have supported us over the years, so please come by and join the celebration! The Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park is located near Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street.
