MEET THE STAFF | ROY BURGESS
Metro presents staff profiles! Have you ever wondered what the deal with that security guard is, or how the guy who does the booking got his job? The Metro blog takes you inside the lives of our staff members.
First up, one of the most beloved characters in the Metro family, Roy. By day, Roy does something involving dispatching medical supplies to hospitals, but once nighttime rolls around, you’ll find Roy within the walls of 3730 North Clark, keeping you safe. One of the only staff members that almost all customers know by name, we asked Roy to answer the call of his fans and answer these questions.

What do you do at Metro?
I try to make everyone who graces us with the pleasure of their attendance, at the fabulous Metro, feel safe and secure, and I also, unofficially, help run the security staff along side my wonderful and sexy security coordinators, Eddie, Mike, Donny, and Juan.
How long have you worked at Metro?
Six of the most fun and interesting years of my life so far. I have actually asked that if I die, I am stuffed and mounted in the display case in the lobby of the Metro and have Joe (the owner) change my clothes on a regular basis according to the fashion at the current time.
What is your favorite Metro memory?
Working the stage/barricades at countless sold out punk shows. I love the kids and it makes me happy to see them lose their minds for the music they love. Reminds me of me in my younger, rambunctious days now that I am 31 and old. Second only to that is I love when I see kids and their parents on the streets when I am not working and having them thank me for taking care of them or their kids. Makes me feel I am doing an awesome job. I’m getting too damn sentimental in my old age.
What’s in your cd player/ on your iPod right now?
In my IPOD right now is the Justin Timberlake album, Justified,. In my
CD player is the Against Me! album, Reinventing Axl Rose.
What’s something people don’t know about you?
When I was 13 I was at Devil’s Lake Wisconsin where I fell into an ice lake, and I was trapped under water and ice for about 3 minutes before I was rescued. Due to that unfortunate event I have been afraid to swim in large bodies of water and I also can't swim at all. I am slowly working on resolving this problem with the help of my pushy, yet very loving friends.
