BEST DAY EVER FOR LUPE FIASCO

Being sick on the release day of your major label debut is probably not the coolest thing to endure, but Lupe Fiasco made the most of it last night at Metro. The day was filled with various rumors about Lupe - he was canceling his Myspace Secret Show, he wasn't going to show up and even he was going to show up but not perform - but Lupe threw everyone for a loop (zing!) and performed a full set to a packed Metro audience. Pitchfork was there too and they took some photos as well. Lupe was joined onstage by friends, family and fellow artists (see photo of up-and-coming R&B act Risque below) throughout his entire performance and made sure to introduce every last one of them to the crowd. And yes, Lupe did get weepy during a song he dedicated to his late grandmother, but that's what happens when you've been waiting and fighting and working on an album for years and months. All Lupe could say was "this is, like, the happiest day of my life." Those lucky enough to get into the record release show agreed and as one girl yelled back and put it, "Lupe, you so real!"
